- S T A R F L I G H T

- This is a demo version of STARFLIGHT which is being put out by a company
- called Electronic Arts. The people at Electronic Arts have been asked about
- putting this demon onto a public bulletin board and gave full permisson to
- do so.

- Even though this is a demo version of the real thing, it is an excellent
- program just the same. The demo version will run approximately 45 minutes.
- The demo program needs 384K RAM to operate although the product itself needs
- only 256K.

- The demo consists of 3 programs STARFLT.COM, STARA.COM, and STARB.COM.
- Archive/Unarchived sizes of 47014/54332, 90726/256000, and 247928/362496
- respectively. Copy all to a hard disk or STARB to one disk and the other
- two on another. (the disk with STARA and STARFLT should be in drive A:)
- To start the program, from the A> (for floppy disks) or the C> prompt type
- STARFLT, indicate the type of monitor you have (must have CG card or
- Hercules compatable mono) <SPACE> will exit the title screen and <SPACE>
- will turn off the music

- The demo begins in Starport. Unlike the actual game, the ship and crew
- have already been built. To walk around in Starport, use the arrow keys or
- the numeric key pad. To enter a door, press <SPACE> while outside the door.
- To beam aboard the ship, go to the center of Starport and press <SPACE>

- Once on board, use the arrow keys or the numeric key pad to make menu
- choices. Press <SPACE> to make a selection.

- To launch, select Captain, the Launch. When asked for Launch codes,
- enter any series of digits and verify.

- Once you've launched, select Bridge, then Navigator, then Maneuver.
- Now use the numeric key pad to guide you ship through space.

- To select an officer, always first go to bridge.

- To orbit a planet, head for its center, then press <SPACE> at the prompt.

- To land on a planet, select Captain, the Descend.

- To fight or maneuver, select Navigator.

- If you have an encounter, it's wise to Scan and Analyse the alien ship.
- Use the Science Officer for this. To communicate with the alien vessel, use
- the Communications Officer.

- HINTS:
- Experiment with the sub-menus to gain familiarity with the array of
- activity options.

- If you want to meet some interesting aliens, head NW from Starport.

- To explore an interestin planet, head NW from Starport, towards
- coordinates 123,101. Try the second planet in the system.

- For a fight, try heading west, or southwest.

- the people at Electronic Arts claim that Starflight has 1.5 billion places to
- explore, hundreds fo conversations with 7 intelligent alien races, 800
- different planets, each with unique eco-systems. So happy exploring and don't
- get lost!!
